About Our Association

The Rainy River District Law Association is the association of lawyers serving the Rainy River District in Northwestern Ontario, Canada.

Our association was incorporated by letters patent in 1909. Our members practice in Treaty #3 territory, which is the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, in which the Métis share history.

We are based at the Fort Frances Courthouse, where we operate a law library that is open to legal counsel and the public, and a reading room, which is available to legal counsel appearing in courts in Fort Frances.

We engage in advocacy on behalf of the practicing bar and to advance access to justice and legal services in our region.

Our association is a member of the Federation of Ontario Law Associations. We work closely with the Kenora District Law Association and the Thunder Bay Law Association.
